similar to Jermaine Dye's season in 2006, both always good players, but they exploded those career years
Nah, Dye had power in Atlanta and Kansas City. I saw it

Luis Gonzalez was on PEDs. I remember him being a slap hitter in Houston.
And to me there is no way Bagwell was clean either.
They start testing for PEDs and dude comes to spring training weighing 200 lbs saying he wanted to be more flexible. :russ:

Pudge had a similar moment that same spring training.

nah I know, but 2006 he just had a clear standout career year, I noted how he was always good. but 44 HRs and on short list for MVP was a nice susprise as a White Sox fan. he was one of my favorite players

I don’t think Dye was PEDs. (Not saying you did, but comparing him to that clown Luis Gonzalez made me think of it) Dye just caught one of those random career years good players have. It wasn’t something insane like Brady Anderson in ‘95.

oh I absolutely wasn't insinuating that. I think someone else brought up Luis. Jermaine is my guy

He was on the juice. But the media only focuses on Bonds/Manny/Arod because they were higher profile.

Hell I didn’t forget that Andy Pettitte was on PEDs.

So was Bret Boone. And to me there is no way Bagwell was clean either.

Obviously the big names got the big attention.

But what's just as obvious is that was an era where a whole lot of the league wanted some juice... :sas1:

and they were not going thirsty. :sas2:

Same thing happened with Chris Davis, he started off decent and had a few good years then exploded and had 2 years where he hit 45+ HR’s with 120+ RBI’s but then somehow fell off a cliff

As a baseball casual that roots for the Yankees and Brooklyn Dodgers, this is a great thread to learn :ohhh::ehh:

I couldn't find this game. I wasn't trying to prove you wrong. I wanted to see when he did this. But based off his Home Run log at Baseball-reference, he didn't have a 2-homer game vs Philly.

To be fair, you said bombs, not necessarily HRs.

In any case, here are the 2 homer games of Jermaine Dye's career:

July 2, 1999: Two homers off Dwight Gooden
July 4, 1999: Two homers off Dave Burba
August 9, 1999: Two homers off Mark Portugal
September 14, 1999: One homer off Tim Belcher, one homer off Al Lavine
April 26, 2000: Two homers off Ryan Rupe
July 25, 2000: Two homers off Jim Parque
August 12, 2000: One homer off John Parrish, one homer off Mike Trombley
September 22, 2002: Two homers off Chan Ho Park
April 14, 2004: Two homers off RA dikkey
August 30, 2005: One homer off Edison Volquez, one homer off John Wasdin
April 25, 2006: One homer off Bobby Livingston, one homer off Jake Woods
June 1, 2006: One homer off Paul Byrd, one homer off Fernando Cabrera
July 8, 2006: Two homers off Josh Beckett
August 24, 2006: Two homers off Nate Robertson
April 27, 2007: One homer off Ervin Santana, one homer off Justin Speier
August 15: 2007: Two homers off Garrett Olson
August 2, 2007: One homer off Jeff Karstens, one homer off Kyle Farnsworth
May 21, 2008: One homer off Paul Byrd, one homer off Jorge Julio
June 19, 2008: One homer off Phil Dumatrait, one homer off John Grabow
August 23, 2008: Two homers off Scott Kazmir
September 23, 2009: One homer off Brian Duensing, one homer off Bobby Keppel

Jermaine Dye did play 9 games in his career vs the Phillies, hitting .367 with 1 homer and 5 doubles (OPS of 1.000)

Dye was a beast lol

Lee could have been 3-4 or 4-5, it was a million years ago. point being he was a madman when hot
