thornton's circle all think he's destined to be a superstar PG (one of his trainers is always comparing him to kyrie :mjlol: ) which is quite sad.

I liked derryck and woulda liked to see him stay at Duke but he's gotta know that he was gonna have to earn his playing time on a stacked team, which I think he pops and them weren't having. they wanted a guaranteed starting spot from what I've heard and he's just not good enough to get that kind of promise. I think he can be a good PG and make the league if he works on his shot and decision making but his fam is on some other shyt all together...I wouldn't doubt K letting giving him full rein in the transfer process and letting him go to L'ville who was his 2nd choice originally.

Rat face Killa begged him to come to Duke early, watched him struggle all season, then showed him the door to make room for another 18 year old. Leader of men y'all.

:dahell: coach K made this kid reclassify, then didnt follow through on his end of the deal?

lol, this is all lies above, but idiots like the 2 of you feed the bullshyt fire with clear bias already against duke. Duke has been trying hard to get him to stay on board since at least january when things soured a bit more. he did not get told to transfer or kicked out so that duke could get a scholly for bolden; i still can't believe people are claiming this. If duke needed the open scholly, justin robinson would've gone on preferred walkon status. Derryck's dad had previously talked about the process of derryck reclassifying and they were looking at lousville as well. No one "made him: reclassify; they were already considering it. Duke had been recruiting him for the 2016 class already along with dennis smith and frank jackson a bit later. When tyus unexpectedly bolted, K told them he can come early for 2015 or wait still and come the next year for 2016; if he didn't come for 15-16 season, they were going to get a grad transfer (or maybe they would've gotten jamal murray). Thornton's (rightfully so) obviously chose duke not b/c duke begged them too, but b/c they clearly saw him getting the most minutes there and were hoping for a OAD season like tyus although he clearly was not that player. They overvalued his worth in terms of immediate impact. He has great NBA potential as a 3-4 yr player, but they are clearly impatient. Lil nikka got 26+ minutes a game and shot under 40% with terrible decision making most of the time. His greatest value was in man to man defense and having handles to pressbreak. Otherwise he was loose with the ball here and there in the halfcourt, he got blocked alot going to the rim although this was his most effective scoring route, and he bricked elbow jumper after 3 after another elbow jumper. He had more opportunity than most freshmen do, and would be primed for a breakout season by his junior year after some seasoning this year. His uncle/traiiner going off on twitter is an idiot talking bout they were told he be used mostly in a ballscreen offense, but that he was underutilized or not used like this at all. Guess what dumbass, maybe if derryck could hit an open jumper off the PNR, it would've been used more. Maybe if he could find the cutter to the basket or drive and kick more regularly for 3, it would've been used more. But no, he would either drive to the hole and flick up a floater or a blocked layup, or he would miss a 15-18 ft jumper. It also didn't help when amile went down as he was the main PNR big. Marshall and chase in PNR was useless. If he stayed, he and giles/jefferson in PNR or he and bolden (if he comes) in PNR would've been devastating. I get the impression that he wanted to stay, but neither his dad or his uncle wanted to have him compete for PT with jackson coming in. Sad situation all around, b/c he was primed to be part of a special team this year and to be a leader with a breakout year by his junior season. I wish the best of luck to him, he is very talented, just needs more coaching/seasoning and not this fukkboy of a trainer in his ear.

Sitting out his sophmore year is silly too. Coming off the bench to win a national title and taking over the reigns his junior year would be better than whatever best case scenario he get out of whatever school he lands in...

I'm not mad at him for this. He was gonna sit behind Frank Jackson next season more than likely so I cant blame him for wanting to go somewhere that he feels he can be the man at after next season. Cause it wasn't a guarantee that he would ever get the chance to start at Duke again with the talent they get every year.
