Is Blizzard/Activision making the initial push to compete with Steam :patrice: Destiny 2 an AAA title, will be the first non Blizzard created game, on the Battle.net network (Basically the interface PC users use to log into World oF warcraft, Diablo, Starcraft and Overwatch, etc. )

For console users, this would be like logging into XBOX LIVE to play Uncharted 4 on your Playstation :patrice:

We want to let everyone know that a new game will be appearing alongside your favorite Blizzard games—one that’s a little different from what you might normally expect. Bungie’s upcoming first-person action game Destiny 2 will be joining the party! We’re excited to announce that we're partnering with Bungie and Activision to support the PC version of Destiny 2 exclusively via Battle.net.

We’re big fans of Destiny here at Blizzard, and we’re honored to be able to help the talented folks at Bungie and Activision bring their much-anticipated sequel to a new platform. Being on Battle.net will allow Destiny 2 to plug in to our existing global network, freeing up the developers at Bungie to focus their energy and resources on making the best and most fun game they possibly can. This also means Destiny 2 players will have access to our online social functionality, including chat with friends, the ability to see which of their friends are online in Destiny 2 or in Blizzard games, and the ability to stream gameplay directly to Facebook.

I cant think of a weirder pairing :patrice: Is bungie under Activision umbrella ? Thought it was its own company, which would make this move even weirder.

To put things in perspective, this would be like Call of Duty PC users logging on through the same app that you would log onto Diablo 3 etc with.. (and share same friend list, etc.)

Bungie is under activision and blizzard is basically the same as activision

Not unusual at all really

what do you mean not unusual ? In 30 years, its never happened before.. I would say thats unusual.. I guess your definition is different than mine..

Origin has EA games on it (thought steam has some). Battle.net is 100% Blizzard games, this will be the first time a non Blizzard game will be on the Battle.net platform (so not sure what @42 Monks means that this isnt unusual )

Basically to install/play Battlefield 4, you need Origin client to log into.

To play Diablo 3, Starcraft, Overwatch, etc. You need Battle.net client to log into.

Coli.
I still don't know why Bungie needs Activision.
Activision offed them a ton of money to make a game for 10 years :yeshrug: destiny 1 already lasted 4 years will not be surprised if Destiny ends up lasting longer then 10 years

look at the parent company - it literally says Activision.

This isn't strange at all, its just people not ever checking that Blizzard/Activision are the same fukking thing and its just convenient as hell to let Blizzard continue on as the label for all PC focused endeavors. "Never happened in 30 years" is such an exaggeration lol

Again, what the hell does that have to do with what we are discussing? Activision is the parent company to dozens of companies and publishes hundreds of games. This is the first non blizzard game on Battle.net. Please stay on topic.

Its not an exaggeration, in 30 years, Blizzard has never offered its gaming platform (battle.net) to any other game. This is not hyperbole.

Its easier if you just say you didnt know what you were talking about and keep it moving :manny:
