I mentioned this on facebook

Rioting has happened and existed for centuries.... And more times than not some kind of change has happened because of the incidents.

I believe in non-violent approach but where did that get George Zimmerman?

As long as people aren't getting killed, I say let them riot. It's over an important cause that needs light shed upon it. There were like 20 riots worldwide in 2012, all over various issues. Some more insignificant than others

One riot in the 17th century killed tens of thousands of ppl I believe. People riot when feeling oppressed... It's human nature

Some of us are only saying channel the riot correctly.
You can burn down where you live at right now, how would you affect me personally by doing so?

You have your answer when you answer my question.. Lol

That's not many black revolutions to cute, period. The Eritrean war of independence and the Haitain rebellion are a few that come to mind, but you probably want examples dealing with only black Americans next, tho..right?

Uhhh yeah.

Are you seriously comparing the Hatian Rebellion to the situation facing Black people in America?

Doesn't Haiti owe France like a trillion dollars or some shyt? That doesn't scream success.

What's sad about this is that the businesses being destroyed are local businesses most likely employing black people, if not owned by black people.

When the dust settles, businesses will be even more expensive to open because the insurance is gonna be sky high. Chances are, these buildings will end up being abandoned, people who were willing to invest in the community will be turned away because of uncertainty, and the community will turn to shyt even worse.

Great job. I guess.

Out here in my damn drawls
Uhhh yeah.

It doesn't matter how relative it is to Haiti's rebellion, the fact that people are fed up speaks to a deep, fundamental disconnect no matter how many people want to sit and trivialize it. People aren't happy

Ferguson isn't even a quarter of what angry people are capable of. That's just one small town. We haven't seen a real rebellion here yet because, for the most part, people are still comfortable. It won't be that way for much longer if things keep goong the way they are.

American is dealing with social injustice at the very same time as a financial and way of living crisis. One way or another, whether it be from broke people or black people, change is inevitable

And damn near every country owes somebody about a trilly like Haiti does. Good luck trying to collect :mjlol:

I haven't read through the whole thread, but my personal take on rioting, looting, vandalizing, etc., it can all be likened to a child throwing a temper tantrum. I had to turn CNN off as the looters started to sicken me. Just people with no organization, no direction, no clear goals, and the crazy thing is that probably sums up much of their lives in general. I know it's a tired narrative, that being when situation like police brutality come up the conversation starts to go into a direction about what we need to do in our own communities. When that happens, it takes away the spotlight on the original problem at hand, that being the often unnecessary loss of young Black life. Still, I do strongly believe there needs to be some serious examination and house cleaning from within the Black community. Too many excuses and passes are being given to folks from within that we could do better without. Not enough ostracism and shame being handed out internally.

We've had hundreds of thousands (millions actually, right???) of soldiers fighting for our rights and this country. Those rights failed us as a country tonight. But I'm a farrrr way off from turning my back the U.S. Just look at the people in the streets...black, white, Hispanic...everyone knows it's an injustice. We're a people together.

History violently disagrees with you.

have you talked to a current or retired, black or white, veteran? Breh, it saddens me that's how you feel. In my line of work, I've talked, met and built relationships with vets and man, I'm sorry to hear you feel that way.... :sadcam:

I have. I talked to a 70 year old vet in 2008 on the campus of the University of Cincinnati while waiting to enter a Obama speech when he was running for president. He told how after he came back from the war how poorly he was treated by white folks.

nikkas have no concept of guerilla warfare, war of attrition. But these concepts can be teached and executed by any group who has enough determination, fluid intelligence(quick street smarts) and mental discipline.

It does look stupid and it does look uncivilized BUT there is a key reason why the people burn down there own shyt.....

Becauese......White folks ain't gonna let you burn down they shyt. I stay in Bham, If it ever pop off, They'll let yo Black ass burn Ensley to the ground, Pratt City to the ground, West End to the ground, etc...

Try going over that mountain talking about burning shyt down. Try burning Fultondale or Gardendale to the ground or burning 280 to the ground. Yo ass would have been killed 30 times for you even got to them shyts..

We got to be smarter about what we do to our communities.

Well police/law enforcement was basically created to preserve and protect the property/land/assets of rich, powerful whites. Police only answers to rich, powerful, mostly white persons so its not surprising.

Saying those riots are temper tantrums ignores the history of oppression that we've been under. They didn't riot because they didn't get their way. They rioted because a white police officer murdered an unarmed black teenager with his hands up surrendering in broad daylight in the middle of the streets in his own hood. And instead of arresting the officer that did it, white people donated 600,000 dollars to him, and had an entire city hiding and defending him from prosecution.

They're not rioting because the Rams lost the superbowl or Walmart were out of flat screens on black Friday. Look at the history or riots in this country where black people turned up. It's ALWAYS been because of unarmed black people being murdered and never receiving justice.
