Now could he have started off on his own and built something from scratch — probably not. I’ve seen some clips of him at Hot 97 it’s not something I want to tune into over and over again

You’re giving Desus far too much credit. He didn’t make it because he’s not a genuine cat. You see it every time there’s something to riff on, even going back to the Bodega Boys days. No one who programmed for a living would make as many mistakes recalling coding processes and principles as much as that nikka has. This show is trash. Meanwhile, by staying true to the fact that he’s a washed New Yorker (and proud of it), victory light makes for a far more engaging and entertaining listening experience. Yeah, the sketches are fukking dumb, but they are completely in line with Mero’s personality. I never know which Desus is going to show up.
