im confused...im not a huge gamer, but i been getting back into gaming...plus i got a free ps plus membership for a year...i downloaded this game and it was dope...but uh, was this not the first game in the series?

No. Game was a reboot of the original series. Devil may cry 1-3 was on ps2. Devil may cry 4 was on ps3/360.
They repackaged the first 3 in a hd collection on ps3. If you liked dmc you should go scoop up the hd collection and the fourth game. I recently bought the hd collection for 15 brand new.

I downloaded it off with PSN Plus as well. I'm gonna play it after I finish with Bioshock Infinite. I played the demo a while back and thought it was aight. Just felt so limited in gameplay compared to 3 and 4. The lead designer dude also came off like a dikk on some, "if you don't like don't buy it nikkas

You think the combos in that game are sick, check out the shyt you can pull off in DMC3/4
Watch these and you'll understand why Devil May Cry fans say that the combat in DmC is a downgrade.
