Gonzalez, 34, admitted running the organization chiefly from the
Virginia Beach nightclub Encore Lounge, now closed. The ring has been linked to one-time Olympic gold medalist Tim Montgomery, as well as former Bloods gang leader Marlon Reed.
Prosecutors said that in a five-year period,
Gonzalez was responsible for distributing more than a half-ton of cocaine, a ton of marijuana and hundreds of pounds of heroin throughout the region. Authorities initially had estimated Gonzalez's drug operation as having a gross worth of $10 million but now say that figure should be doubled.
According to the Virginian-Pilot, Gonzalez is accused of being part of a ring that
distributed more than a ton of marijuana and more than 100 pounds of cocaine since 2003 throughout Virginia and at least six other states and parts of South America. Also connected in the ring, according to the report, is an unidentified police officer.
That establishment closed earlier this year after more than
100 incidents of violence, shootings, drug dealing and disorderly conduct, according to the report. Police were called to the Encore Lounge in Virginia Beach
116 times in 2008 and 24 separate times for fights and gun shots.
