Rams 01 ain't have no stacked D.

Colts 06 ain't have no stacked D.

Saints 10 ain't have no stacked D.

Packers 11 ain't have no stacked D.

Winning SBs are all about your defense getting timely stops and/or turnovers. It doesn't need to be "stacked" or "shutdown."

10 years ago you would have said "you need a running game to win in January and February" based off history. And you would have been wrong.

But keep spewing that venom :jjumad:

Rams had the #3 defense that year. And did great on pressuring the QB which is a good recipe for success.

Packers had the #2 Defense that year breh. U should replace them with the Giants 2012. They finished 31st overall but got hot in the playoffs.

Colts had the #11 overall defense but was #2 in points allowed and #4 in sacks.

Saints is probably the worse defense u listed on here. They ranked low to mid in every category except turnovers. They were 4th in turn overs. Like the Giants, they got hot when it mattered.

I dont think its all about getting hot at the right time though. I mean a team with a solid D and good QB is going to make more noise in the playoffs majority of the time

My point was that none of those Ds were stacked.

They were lead by league leading offenses that jumped on teams and forced them to abandon the playback and play from behind (pass a lot to play catch up, generally leading to inflated Sacks and INT numbers).

Having a good offense can easily tank the other teams gameplan. And if you're able to get timely stops on 3rd down and a couple important sacks, that's all you need.

Those 4 teams, and 2012 Giants, all won with timely stops, not necessarily "stacked" defense like the point you were trying to make.

Nothing wrong with paying Dez if we can get timely stops with Hardy, Lawrence, and Gregory.

I tend to support your view. An analysis I read a few weeks ago concluded that teams with winning records in the NFL generally have the most efficient offenses with a wide variation in defensive ranking. Most Superbowl winning teams have had very efficient offenses but not necessarily top defenses too.

Staked no but solid yes. Those defense were consistently good even when the offense struggled.

I think the recipe for a sb is aberage offense and good defense
