Funny how this debate on what dallas has contributed and hasn't contributed always comes up. Especially when it comes to comparing it to atlanta and other cities.

But folks fail to realize the historical connections that atlanta's first black mayor (Maynard Holbrook Jackson jr.) has with the city of Dallas. From being born in dallas and his father Maynard Holbrook Jackson Sr. organizing/mobilizing/registering blacks to vote in dallas. Forming the Dallas Progressive Voters League in 1936 and running for chair of the DIS Board of Education in 1944. Before eventually moving his family to Atlanta.

I know history isn't a strong suit on the coli so this doesn't surprise me.

Negro, please. Yes, Maynard was born in Dallas. But, he came of age in Atlanta at the knee John Wesley Dobbs, was educated at Morehouse and made his life in Atlanta.

Elijah Muhammad was born in Georgia. Martin Luther King, Jr. was born in Georgia. And Malcolm X's paternal lineage is in Georgia, where his father was born and raised.

MLK is the only one of those three associated with Georgia, as that's where he made his life.

It does. Atlanta doesn't

There's plenty of wealth off Cascade Rd in Atlanta, breh. Old Black money, new Black money, etc.

Old Black money and new Black money sprinkled throughout the Buckhead area as well.

Black folks with money can live where they please in and around Atlanta area. They are all over: Cascade, Old Fairburn, Fayetteville, Alpharetta, Sandy Springs, Milton, Druid Hills, etc.

They aren't concentrated in one area like the DeSoto example you like to present! The only reason why nikkas are in DeSoto in the first place is because of white flight.

From what I recall, Highland Park in Dallas didn't allow a Black person to move there until 2003 or 2004! The shyt was and still is a Sundown Town! That one Black person is still the only Black person to live in Highland Park--in 2018!

Even Black Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Mavericks players weren't allowed to move to Highland Park. :mjpls:

Do you think Atlanta Falcons or Atlanta Hawks brehs would be denied housing in Buckhead? :mjlol:

When people in Atlanta mention Cascade, they are talking about the community around that main road, breh.

People such as Hank Aaron, Atlanta mayors, etc. all stay in communities off that main road.

Cascade Heights - Wikipedia

Both new and old money out there. It's been that way for decades.

I see dudes mentioning Charlotte of all places.
:hhh:

Charlotte's economic success masks deep black-white divide

"The black unemployment rate in North Carolina was 10.3% last year, compared with 4.8% for whites, a wider gap than in the nation at large".

"About 40% of black households in Charlotte have annual incomes of $30,000 or less, and a quarter live in poverty, according to the UNC report, which drew from census data. Less than 10% earn $100,000 or more".

"The situation in white households is almost the opposite: Less than 10% live in poverty, while nearly 35% earn more than $100,000".
Homes in Charlotte are relatively affordable. The median price is $171,500, according to Zillow, and home values have grown 7.5% in just the past year.

But blacks are missing out on much of that prosperity. The black homeownership rate in Charlotte is just above 40%, while nearly 70% of whites in the city own a home.
i don't understand how the homeownership rate isn't high with the homes are so cheap:picard:
