So he just appoints anybody he wants?
Governors of each state are allowed to appoint people to the Senate when a Senator retires, resigns, or dies in office.

The appointed Senator can either be a caretaker (serves out the remaining term but doesn't run to be elected) or a successor (wants to be elected and continue on).

yall need to get off her dikk. rest in piss you selfish bytch. :scust:
I think a lot of people do not realize just how openly racist some of their Democratic heroes were in the past. Most politicians seem to be willing to wear many personas to get the votes they need and the money they desire.

Yup.

They Weekend at Bernie’s her ass the same way McConnell is being propped up with sticks and duck tape. Should retired forever ago.

Term limits goddamn it. These old CACs hang on til the absolute end.
People keep getting mad at the Democrat old heads but keep letting people like Mitch slide. That man is literally dying before our eyes and have people lying saying he’s perfectly healthy. Same folks out here being like it’s Trump or nothing like he can’t die at some point himself with his old ass. All these younger candidates being thrown out the paint to keep these old asses in these seats… mainly because a lot of old ass people vote. shyt is funny to me.

There should be an age limit for terms. 70 Should be the cut off.

Kicking people out at 70 is pretty extreme, there are some very physically/mentally capable 70 year olds. My great grandma is 81 and she still drives (with no problems), walks without a cane, takes care of herself, etc. It depends on the person.

But I wouldn't be opposed to people above a certain age having to take test every year or two to make sure they're not senile and are physically capable of the job. People who know they wouldn't pass would have an incentive to retire to avoid embarrassment.

No, I'm adding on that she's filthy rich and choosing to work until death is nuts and disgusting
Power.

They don't want to give it up. Once you do, your personal assistants go away, your influence goes down, you don't get to enjoy some of the spoils and riches of power.

And since she is dying as a sitting Senator and not a former Senator, they will likely have a big funeral for her in DC that will be covered live by the major media channels, and all the Presidents except Trump (cause he is petty) and Carter (cause of age) will attend.
