Well the election for her seat is next year and several people already announced they were running.
The Governor said he would appoint a black woman temporarily if something happened to Feinstein.
I guess whoever is put there will be a temporary person until someone is elected next year. Unless the temporary person decides to run herself.

Yes from my understanding she's running for the seat. I don't believe he will be choosing her for a variety of reasons though.

Karen Bass, the logical choice when he probably made the comment , is already mayor of L.A.
She's closely tied to him and his circle, so any other option would be out of left field. She's 77 herself, so the optics wouldn't look good of picking someone old even if it'd only be until election time.
