did a tribe called quest ever release an album that was a 3.5?

Overrated lyrically. Their beats made them. On the mic they were average at best

lyrically they were great. tip nor phife were ever lyrical acrobats however they won't no slouches on the mic or nothin' like that

Anyway a gas station we passed
We got gas and went on to get grub
It was a nice little pub in the middle of nowhere
Anywhere would have been better
I ordered enchiladas and I ate 'em
Ali had the fruit punch
When we finished we thought for ways to get back
I had a hunch
Ali said, "Pay for lunch"
So I did it

"I float like gravity"

"Its just me tip and ali for those who cant count it goes 1 2 3"

"Phife Dawg's my name, but on stage, call me Dynomutt"

"Drink a lot of soda so they call me dr pepper"

Hey i love atcq, The low end theory and MM are great albums but the beats and the different sound is what made them great, not the lyrics

I guess some would say Love Movement and Beats Rhymes and Life

I give BLR a 4 and a personal classic because when that dropped that was first Tribe album I heard and then I went back and did the history

like i said, they weren't some lyrical acrobats but they were nice on the mic. not everybody has to be be a big pun or black thought type of mc to be a great mc

I think it's internal issues, and the east/west beef + aftermath (arrival of DMX and Pac clones) shifting the culture around, which made tribe's sound played out to the masses.
