Did anyone's parents make y'all watch slave movies growing up?

When that clear bytch said: It was a nikka, nikka, nikka!!! knowing damn well her slut ass got her trifling ass beat by another clear person had my blood boiling. I wanted to jump through the screen and beat her half to death  It's a shame I'm getting upset just typing this.

Yes, she was. I'm very passionate about history & I would have went outside and purposely got into some nonsense to feel vindicated.
:russ:Clear???? She made me so damn mad! I forgot what they said happened to her though.

My whole family watched 'Roots' when it was first-run on ABC. I was 8 years old. Was the first time they let me stay up past bedtime. I was PISSED-OFF for a few years and haven't allowed anyone to call me 'n1gger' since then.

I still can't watch it to this day.

I wasn't forced to watch, since reading materials and traveling certain spots typically came first (indirectly or otherwise)...:ld:

My parents made me watch all of them movies...Roots, Queen, Amistad, Rosewood, Malcolm X, Shaka Zulu, and etc..

I didn't mind because as a young lil nikka I liked to learn and that shyt was interesting to me.

Its funny how most of those movies hardly even come on tv anymore. It's almost like if you didn't come up during a certain time you were fukked.

The movie that really stuck out to me was Mandingo with Ken Norton. That movie was wild as fukk. Dude was forced to fight other black slaves on some mortal kombat type shyt. He even got his pawg on as well. The ending fukked my head up though. I always wanted to read the books, but they hard to find.
