Did Big Pun surpass Kool G Rap?

Had he lived longer maybe. As such, we saw and judged off his short period of great work and some people put him right there with G Rap.

Who knows what would have happened. Some people felt like he was slipping on Yeeeeah Baby.

G rap is my 2nd favorite rapper ever but Pun took his style and took it to a whole nother level. I cant say he surpassed him though cuz his career was to short but Capital Punishment is better then any G Rap album

Love Pun but he ain't fukkin with kool g rap. G rap is top 5 material imo.

Pun had one of the illest flows ever...but G Rap lyrically is a close 2nd to Rakim in my book. In the top 5 lyricists, it can go different ways depending on what you prefer, lyrics, flow, charisma, songwriting, complexity, etc...

Regardless, G Rap is unquestionably in my top 5 no matter how you slice it. I hear a lot of people always prefer 90's G Rap material....but what puts him close to Ra to me is his longevity. Dude is over 40 and has never lost a step lyrically. The only bad thing about G Rap is, in his later career he never had the consistent production to carry him. Also G Rap on another level as far as storytelling. He could tell a story as vividly as Rick.

Pun was a G Rap fan, even he wouldn't pick his own self over him.

Az, GRap and Pun had that ability to describe shyt so iLL. The wordplay is amazing, they are really serious about their craft.

Pun surpassed him as far as style clarity and delivery. Pun voice control and clarity on yeaaaa baby was horrible tho.

Pun was a GRap Stan tho.

In general I don't really like the term surpassed in this context, especially when somebody was a big influence, I also think they were different. Who do I like best and think was the best? Big Pun. But there's areas you'd give G Rap too such as storytelling.
