I think his intentions were to analyze race relations with a satirical and sarcastic/ironic theme and to make it entertaining to the masses (which is hard as hell esp for a brotha btw) . But he felt like people, esp whites were just laughing AT him. Which a lot of them were. So I guess it was c00ning by accident.

But fukk watcha heard, the chappelle show is legendary! The fact that people STILL talk about it shows its impact. And the show was on for only TWO seasons.

Pryor and Mooney mentioned the same shyt back when they were big in the 70s.

I might be getting my history mixed up, but didn't Chappelle leave not because he was making black people look bad, but because he was basically being pressured into doing skits he didn't want to do? Once the "lost episodes" or whatever were shown after he left, it made a whole lot of sense why he didn't wanna show those. I think he (Dave) specifically mentioned the racist fairy skit, too.
