What kind of revisionist history bullshyt is this? Domino and Snoop ain't sound alike. Domino's album was dope asf and those two singles got a lot of airplay on Yo! MTV Raps etc..

I'm not sure of the reasoning behind why Domino couldn't keep up the success but I think we discussed it in the booth. It probably came down to marketing.

He was a talented guy

Wrong.

Domino sang most of the time and his flow wasn’t like Snoop’s aside from the fact that they were both smooth on the mic. But Snoop had an arsenal of rhyme schemes, flows and was a strong performer. And he was playing for the winning team.

Domino had success with his first album and being on Tales From The Hood soundtrack. Decent career for someone who wasn’t a strong singer at a time when 90s R&B had good and accomplished vocalists.

But if you heard the Bangin On Wax song from Bloods & Crips, his rapping and sounds NOTHING like Snoop even tho those dudes were barely out of high school when their music careers kicked off. That album came out right before Doggystyle so Domino definitely switched up his flow and went with the singing because his voice as a rapper sounded cartoonish

Listen to the track.

He’s the first one rapping. You can clearly tell that’s him.

Snoop and Warren sound more alike than Snoop and Domino, doesn't really matter anyways cause Snoop admittedly patterned his flow and intonation off Richie Rich.

He didn’t sound like Snoop at all lol. Maybe if he was signed on a west label shyt would be different.
His setback was really Def Jam dropping Outburst which Domino was signed to, the follow up album was completed and ready to go in 95 but Def Jam kept delaying it and then dropped Outburst completely.

Def Jam should have capitalized on the momentum G-Funk was having in 94 and 95, if his sophomore drops summer 95 I think he has a way different career trajectory, the quality of his music didn't fall off but he had no push after Def Jam.
