Did Eminem really Kill Jay-Z on "Renegade" or was that overstated?

Jay had a huge advantage. That track was originally Eminem and royce the 5-9. They just cut royces verse out and Jay hopped in as a replacement . So jay had some prep time, and a chance to hear em"s shyt alot before he layed his verse.

Royce was in no way wack on there, but his verse was all over the place, and not at all memorable, while Hov's fit the song, and is full of quotables.

You're right - Eminem's verse on "Renegade" wasn't so much better than Jay's that the name of the song itself became slang for having a better verse than another rapper on a song.

Gotta give The Coli props in its neverending quest to try to deny all of Eminem's accomplishments. That takes heart.

Meanwhile, all rap critics, almost all rap fans, and all of Eminem's peers (literally every other rap artist) disagree with The Coli. Whenever they interview your favorite rapper, and he puts Eminem in his top 5, or he says an Eminem album is one of the best rap albums, that must really drive you crazy. The lyrical content was even, but Em's flow killed it. Jay was crazy off balance with his rhythm and rhyme patterns.

Em killed him on this track, but in fairness to Jay it wasn't because Jay came with lackluster verses. Jay's verses are both great, and fit well within the track, and on any other collabo with any other artist they probably would've been the standout verses of the record. Unfortunately for him Eminem spit in my opinion his two best verses of all time on that track, and therefore Jay had no chance of seeming like he could hang with Em, when that was what Em delivered on that song.
