I remember at Barber Shop where everybody was talking about :whew: Eminem's verse hottest than Jay-Z's verse and everybody agreed with it.

to take it a step further, Nas fukked up the way we view collabs after Ether, now everytime 2 dudes on a song, its who murdered who, can't even say they both killed it.

You have no idea what u speak on.

nikkas ALWAYS argued over who got who.

When Brooklyn's Finest dropped, my nikkas literally spent three days arguin whether biggie was even nice (silly, I know... but one was a wu head...), cause one thought jay washed him.

When The Whut dropped, it was official that big had arrived when he jumped on a track with mef, the most popular dude in the city, and destroyed shyt. mef wasn't a disappointment at that point. He was just that dude. It raised eyebrows when this new nikka got him for a track. AND put shyt down. And yeah, a lot of ppl thought he caught him. Even tho mef got hip hop quotable.

By the way... Hip hop quotable. Once a month the biggest mag in the game argued over who killed shyt hardest. But anyway...

nikkas used to say red made mef look silly on the mic every time they got on a track together in the early days. ESPECIALLY after the joint they did together on muddy waters. Mef was trina flow and red was in destroy all monsters mode.

"3 years for carrying a loaded handgun but it's forever when a nikka *blaowww* and he lands one, to yo cranium, that red dot on yo forehead is not cause u Arabian..." :dwillhuh::what::ohlawd::to:

All Nas did was mainstream "who got killed". Everybody did it before. It just wasn't a big deal.

Now quiet.

Someone said in the thread it was Em's best verse ever, and it may have been. Em obviously has the utmost respect for Jay and that is why he went so extra. The same with the dead wrong verse, which is by a large margin my favorite Em verse ever, he steps up extra when he does a verse with the two greatest emcees of all time. Jay just spit a verse, Em had to reach inside himself and do one of the best verses he ever wrote to even be noticed on the track. If Jay felt he had to compete, like whenever he was on a track with B.I., it would have been a different verse.
And anybody saying that everybody was saying Em "murdered" him before Nas said that on Ether :camby:with that revisionist history bullshyt.
Again, em recorded his verses before jay

Maybe some of yall have only read about early 2000s hip hop on message boards but didnt actually have the experience of unwrapping 17 dollar cds or hearing bootlegs at barbershops. Shyt wasnt even a debate back then. Em was killing everything he touched. It was discussed heavily because it was the ONLY feature on jays classic

This was one of them tracks that even when I first heard it I thought both murdered shyt to the point it was pointless to say one killed the other on it. I came out of it more hyped about Jay on it because he seemed to be stepping more out of his lane flow and lyric wise to match up with Em's content and lyrics. I was thinking that before finding out it was already a Royce and Em track already.

Been saying it for a while....if you let the featured artist produce your song and then rap on it, 9/10 times you're gonna get washed.

The margin between Kanye & Jay on Run this Town was greater than the margin between Em & Jay.
