Just couldn't capture the magic of the earlier games.

They tried too hard to get in on the cinematic wave games are doing these days. The older games were great due to fukkary, not cinematics. Which is why saints row has eclipsed it in pure fun factor in my opinion.

The PS2 games of GTA were great because the physics allowed you to be flexible (jumping out of a burning car, etc) and get out of trouble, while having fun at the same time. The PS3 games try too damn hard to look and feel realistic. Literally, no real imagination now.

i think alot of it has to do with many people expecting san andreas 2 with a focus on the hood again, even though it was never advertised as that

man they need to stop worrying about 3 protagonist,

Just give me one dude

and maybe 3 different cities, Maybe add in a third world city and let dudes be smugglers....... Like the robbing bank shyt was cool but it was way to scripted. Imagine them giving you options on how to smuggle drugs into the country and you got to either fight, run, or hide to do it. :blessed: shyt could of been epic

just like everything else these days, gets overhyped and talked about so much that no matter how good it is, it will never live up to the hype. Detox could be best album of all time any genre, not good enough, the next 3 Star Wars movies could make the OG trilogy look like Phantom Menace, not good enough, Rockstar could make San Andreas on steroids but people would find shyt to complain about.

personally i think GTAV was great, they brought in new ideas, the way they switch between characters was easy & well timed, driving was improved greatly which was my biggest gripe about GTA4. i don't know what it is that makes SA so playable but i bet they could remake that game exactly with todays graphics & all that & cats would still complain about shyt & say it was boring or whatever.

i can only speak for myself but part of the problem is i'm older, i don't have time for games like i used to. i'm 31, i have 2 kids, a full time job that i can't afford to fukk around at, house duties now that i'm shacked up with wifey. 10 years ago when SA dropped i didn't have all that shyt so i had time to just sit & play so of course i built more of an attachment to games like GTA, Halo 1, etc.
Seriously, driving in GTA4 was like driving on ice. That and shooting mechanics i noticed immediately had been upgraded. Felt like I was shooting in Uncharted and driving in Need for Speed. Fighting mechanics still pretty bad, but I like they added a dodge :yeshrug:

This was the most innovative Grand Theft Auto game yet, but y'all just wanted a San Andreas clone :heh:, nostalgia I guess :manny:. Also when will people realise that San Andreas is the outlier game of the entire franchise and has more in tandem with The Saints Row series than GTA, which is why the creators of Saints Row modeled their game specifically on San Andreas(being really over the top and having cartoonish gameplay) instead of 3 or Vice City.

this is why ps2 gen graphics were perfect to me. looked good enough for the eye, yet bad enough to remain fun, unserious and gamelike.

Exactly. Its like once the PS3 and 360 gen cam around, these developers went on the deep end of realism and never focused on keeping games fun. Its also the gen that I also played the least amount of new games.

Im still working on GTV5. Seriously this game could have been so much better had it not been for all the glitches and freezing I'm going thru. I literally freeze every 5 missions I'm barely at the part where Trevor is torturing some alleged terrorist. I dont even know how far I am into the game, but if its only 25%, that's disapponiting because that means its going to be even more excruciating to go through this game.

If they'd just fukking fix the fukking shyt with a patch, this could be one of the best games out this year for PS3. (note I said 3 not 4)

never had any problems like that with mine. For some reason 4 & 5 have been easier to finish tho. 4 was the first time I finished with no cheats, I think it's the ability to take cover that helps the most

Really? 4 I needed hella cheats, but with 5 I'm breezing through pretty good excluding the freezing. Apparently the freezing started after 1.9 patch.

Trust me, if you try a new game now, it'll freeze by the time you start Franklins second mission.....

TORONTO!
GTA5 had too many negative issues on release. no other GTA game dropped with a dark cloud as big as this one.

disc install issues
in game texture loading issues
long load times
gta online not available at launch, and all the bullshyt that happened when it was
gta online main features that I think still aren't available (like heists)
short story mode with a lack of fun missions (like heists)
usually there are a ton of memorable characters but there are few in this
the humor is usually in your face, but you had to dig for most of it here
overall lack of content or easy access to what is there (can't buy extra safe houses and can't afford cars/planes)

basically the bad undid the good and that's what people remember most. don't know if delaying Watch Dogs will pan out for Ubisoft but I for sure ain't checking for any other open world game anytime soon

Single player -8.5/10

Online-6/10

Single player was fun and I enjoyed the missions, I just wish they were longer. I tried to force myself to get into the online portion last week and I just can't do it. I don't have the time nor the patience to do all that bs leveling up crap. I just want to go in and have fun. Can't do that when my best gun is a basic SMG and I can only purchase 50% body armor. :manny:
