okay but what do you think might have happened if savage went into wm5 as a face? you think he would have got booed out of the building??? don't you think it would have been worth a shot??

as for who's the greatest heel of all time, i guess that depends on what aspects you value more than others. so before i try and think of an answer, i guess i should be asking you why you think macho is the greatest.

Macho and Hogan had been wrestling each other long before he was a heel at Wrestlemania 5.

Hulk Hogan didn't stop Macho from being world champ and giving HBK that work...

Eric Bischoff spent 1997 grooming Sting for that big clean pin from Hogan/WCW Savior push at Starrcade 97 but we all saw what happened with that

All that buildup and all those eyes tuned in to the PPV only to be flushed down the drain due to politics

Ugh, just like everything WCW related.

Of course Hogan held him back some because he knew Randy was over and had the potential to overtake him in popularity. Savage was that dude and one of the best to do it regardless so that shows how talented he was. But even with that said I feel Randy could have been even bigger then he was if Hogan would have gave him more of a rub.

It seems like that.

Mach for a long time was the only dude anybody outside of wrestling knew other than Hulk Hogan. I still think that in his prime he was probably more of a pop culture figure than The Rock (as a wrestler not an actor) and Stone Cold were.

Oh well, at least he got some revenge on Vince

Nah, that feud helped enhance Savage even more to Main Eventer and WWF face company guy along with Hogan, Warrior etc.
Holding him back would have been if he didn't wanna wrestle him or work with Vince to bury him. If he did hold him back, he did a piss poor job of it :pachaha: Vince probably did more to hold him back in 93. Hulk holding someone back would be Paul Ondorff but I don't think Savage was held back, Hogan brought him over in WCW.

Also regarding those Steph rumours, Im convinced more and more everyday that the reason Vince is pissed at Randy is because he found out he took the lucrative Slim Jim endorsement/sponsorship and ad time to his nearest competitor. One thing I've seen about Vince is he takes and gets offended by business moves way more than personal moves (look what he actually makes his own kids and family do).

I wouldn't even be surprised if Vince started the rumor that Savage was boning Steph just to make him look back out there and kept it on the low and through the net to avoid any slander lawsuit.

Dead serious too.

The thing about Hogan's big run is that it was uncharted territory. Hogan was super protective of his spot, and he's admitted that much. But it's not like Vince was in any hurry to fukk around with his cash cow. 30 years later and he's still scared to move off his top guy.

Man given that top guys like Sammartino and Backlund had obscenely weird runs where they held the title for almost a decade without losses and being the main guy I don't know how uncharted it was but overall I get your point. Still I think overall I don't Randy was blocked given how well known he is now.

I mean uncharted in terms of the mainstream crossover success they got out of it, not necessarily the length of the reign(s).

But yeah, I think Randy fared well. And no matter what happened between them, Hogan puts him over the most of anybody he worked with.

Macho is easily a greater wrestling icon than the The Rock or Stone Cold.
