No. I've always been a Dilla fan. I had a cousin who put me on Fan-Tas-Tic Vol. 1... nobody knew who Jay Dee was. People weren't feeling Love Below and didn't know who it was to blame it on (I personally thought the album was dope). Got Fantastic Vol. 2 and still nobody knew what was up even though that shyt was retarded.

I've always been a big fan of his with a select few others... then when he passed everybody was suddenly asking me if I heard this or that from him :dahell:

I had to tell half the nikkas, "remember when I was tryin to get you to freestyle over Climax?" or "remember that Me & Those Dreaming Eyes of Mine remix that I played and you loved?" etc. etc.

One time in high school we used to do freestyles in the caf on stage (didn't last long :russ:) I used to play Climax all the time... people like "yooooo whats that!?" :wtb:

I'm glad his fanship is what it is now, but to be honest 75% of the people on the train missed the glory days.

The H
Jay Dee was THE "backpacker's" producer it felt like back then.

I was fan after listening Like Water For Choclate. But yeah, after Donuts, his acclaim really took off.
