Did Jay-Z fell off or is he just working with the wrong people?

I'll will tell you that Magna Carta wasn't anything spectacular but he sounded a bit uninterested and just wanted to put out something for the fukk of it. But here is the thing, I think Jay-Z is just working people that influence him to put out meh material. We all know Timberland and Swizz are both over the hill and knows for club bangers.

Let's use Prodigy from Mobb Deep as a demonstration. I was the 1st to say that Prodigy was garbage for the rest of his life after hearing HNIC 3. I wasn't even looking forward to Albert Einstein all that much to be honest. After heard it I much say, I really think Prodigy improved his lyrical game and his subject matter in that Albert Einstein project BIG TIME because of him working wiith Alchemist thoughout the whole shyt. I think Alchemist instrumentals allowed P to go deep inside himself more than the selections of beats he was getting on HNIC 3. Let's be for real, there isn't ANYTHING remotely close to this on HNIC 3. just Prodigy mumbling about wanting gangsta bytches and other garbage

knowing the Kanye West is going a different direction with his style, would it be nice if Jay-Z can somehow get a hold of somesome like Harry Fraud? or some of Kendrick Lamar's producers, better yet get those guys he had on American Gangster? What happened to Just Blaze?

Jay-Z is already a legend so he can do whatever he want but if he gonna put out something... I expect it to be great. nah mean?

It's not the beats or production but the content of his lyrics. Nobody cares how much money he has, or how many scribble paintings he owns. Truth is that once he fell in love and got married, his spark and drive faded. But he's a brand, so people will buy into what he's selling based off of his past, higher quality work.

But it's really the same reason people still buy Jordans, because its a brand, out of all the shoes that jordan has put out only 4 or 5 of them are actually considered classics. Same thing with jay z albums, maybe 3 classic albums, but people still buy his albums off the strength of The Blueprint 2. People anticipate hearing something new but end up getting the Black Donald Trump of rap.

Jay Z makes generic pop music.
Its what most people like.

People had fun shytting on Kanye...but at least the dude tries new shyt. Jay is coasting w/ this nonsense and the dummies eat it up.

Jay-Z's albums have been one-dimensional as shyt for the past few years now after American Gangster, man...I think he's still one of the best lyricists in the game but his content is just so damn......stagnant, now. Can't take it...

And here I am thinking I bought the album because I found it to be dope. You got it all figured out.

I wonder why I didn't buy BP2, BOBW, Or BP3 though :comeon:

I don't know, but to continue with my Jordan analogy, his classics were the 4's and 11's and maybe the 13's, but the rest of them, nope. Some people have brand loyalty and will buy every Jordan, no matter how disgusting they look.

As with Jay z albums, some people will buy every piece of music he puts out, no matter what. Some people have a more critical ear. Like one of the posters said earlier, his concepts are lacking depth. He's an average storyteller. He leans more on his name now more than anything else.

Every person has different tastes, but I would say that most people like the production more than the lyrical content. :manny:

Its really his choice on who to work, I just think he's very comfortable

I mean he's worked with great producers the past few years still but he definetly feels comfortable doing what he does. Only he can be responsible for taking his craft more seriously and being inspired. I think other producers will just nod and say yes

i finally digested MCHG after some drugs a lot spins and i gotta give to hov the shyt bumps in a good system or headphones. as far as the content and lyrics its st8, he experiments with different flows but he still got some ill bars here and there. i think ppl gotta understand the nikka is old he cant spit like he used to but he still got it. this is easily 4/5.

that prodigy is my favorite of the year and he has lyrically declined since his glory days. but i dont hold it against him either cause like hov, prodigy grabs my attention when he rhymes.

sorry for the long post..:manny:
