I'll will tell you that Magna Carta wasn't anything spectacular but he sounded a bit uninterested and just wanted to put out something for the fukk of it. But here is the thing, I think Jay-Z is just working people that influence him to put out meh material. We all know Timberland and Swizz are both over the hill and knows for club bangers.
Let's use Prodigy from Mobb Deep as a demonstration. I was the 1st to say that Prodigy was garbage for the rest of his life after hearing HNIC 3. I wasn't even looking forward to Albert Einstein all that much to be honest. After heard it I much say, I really think Prodigy improved his lyrical game and his subject matter in that Albert Einstein project BIG TIME because of him working wiith Alchemist thoughout the whole shyt. I think Alchemist instrumentals allowed P to go deep inside himself more than the selections of beats he was getting on HNIC 3. Let's be for real, there isn't ANYTHING remotely close to this on HNIC 3. just Prodigy mumbling about wanting gangsta bytches and other garbage

knowing the Kanye West is going a different direction with his style, would it be nice if Jay-Z can somehow get a hold of somesome like Harry Fraud? or some of Kendrick Lamar's producers, better yet get those guys he had on American Gangster? What happened to Just Blaze?
Jay-Z is already a legend so he can do whatever he want but if he gonna put out something... I expect it to be great. nah mean?
MCHG may be a lot of things, but if anything the production on this album should dispel two myths:
1) Timbaland fell off
2) Timbaland is just known for club bangers
In fact, the production is getting praise.
If Jay is working with producers who influence him to put out meh material, what's the excuse for Blueprint 3 (the majority of which was produced by Kanye West), Blueprint 2 (the majority of which was produced by Just Blaze), and Kingdom Come (the majority of which was produced by Dr. Dre and Just Blaze).
Changing producers =/= progression. Every Jay Z album has introduced a new producer to the game. In fact, there were several up and coming producers on Kingdom Come and it's still considered one of Jay's worst albums.
This whole thread just seemed like it was a plug to big up ALC. An Alchemist appreciation thread would've sufficed.
