Do you hear johnny voice :dahell:

Can you stand the rain and Boyz II Men were the stand out singles on that album breh. Even though B2M was never released it is widely held as one of the groups top songs and it was all Johnny on the vocals.

He single handedly made them go from a boy band, to a mature R&B group.

All facts^

I'm telling y'all. In fact a better question would be did New Edition stagnate Johnny Gill. Son could have been a bigger solo act had he not fukked with them.

You got Bobby doing coke fukking raggedy bytches eating coke off they p*ssy, Michael being a slick dude and Ralph doing a lot of the real work. Johnny walked into a mess and stuck with them brothers but had he said f it and just stayed Solo he would be a way bigger act than he was solo wise.

He probably only added his family to NE fan base. He should to this day thank Mike biv and jheryl busby for his career because those early records are awful (super love goes but thats it)

Lol Ne staggnated Jg yall nikkas be saying dumb shyt JG wasn't shyt before NE but a fake sounding luther who sang with stacy lattisaw Ne gave him the fans to get his voice heard.

Two jam and lewis took NE to the next level heartbreak album would have sounded mature cuz jam and lewis were producing it whether johnny sang on it or not .

Yall keep disrespecting muthafukka success and talent

Bruh he had success with them but sang better than them. If he put all that work into his solo career who knows what would have happened.

That's all I could say fam. I mean look at all the division and fighting New Edition went through where they couldn't even finish tours and the whole nine. Sure it helped get his name out there but if I was him i would always be asking what if. As much success as he had with them he possibly could have had even more if they could have got their shyt together and kept it that way.

I don't know about that either. For as great a voice as Johnny had, nobody could believe ballads sung by a 16-17 year old in the 80's. He was too young to be singing quiet storm radio. It took a few more years and the connection of New Editions fan base for him to take off as a soloist.

Lol, JG was struggling, dude was august alsina out here. Putting him with NE gave him a fanbase he couldn't get on his own and opened the door to the production and songwriters he needed to take off with the adult crowd on his solo after heartbreak

I don't think J.G helped them crossover to a more mature audience. But Bobby was that dude I think he needed to go solo to shine. Been dope if they gotta let the drugs and ego go we could have had the biggest blk group besides if mike jack would have got back with the Jackson. Smh they all still alive but it's to late:mjcry:

That's a big what if. All acts runs their course, no telling if they would've successfully navigated that bridge from 88-92 when music shifted. They would've had to compete with tony toni tone, jodeci, mint condition, hi five, troop, shai, silk, possibly boyz ii men.

How could he ask 'what if' when the previous 5 years of his solo career hadn't yet panned out too great? NE propelled him to an album where he got to work with the two top production teams of their time, and the biggest album of his career. How much bigger would he have been without that NE album happening?
