I think Lupe is more concerned about using rap as an art form and platform instead of using it as a means to make money so it's kind of hard to say he fell off when i think the driving force behind what he does is doing the music he wants to do when he wants to do it how he wants to do it...

Skill wise and concept wise...I can't think of 5 rappers out who could make an album like T&Y

Technically...from a wordplay standpoint when Lupe really wants to be he is one of the best if not the best out right now...

Severely underrated pop culture rapper...he does it every bit as good as drake...and pop culture rap is like...80% of what drake does

If you would've ask this around F&L2/Lasers time I would've said he
fell off and undoubtedly so, the clever rapper with slick production
from F&L was damn near unrecognizable when Lasers dropped
and F&L2 felt like he was trying to recapture feel that feel but he OD'd
on the food and forgot the liquor.

His music was starting to mimic his twitter personality.
Condescending, abrasive, riddled with pseudo intellectual quips
and a feeling of "Square Block forced into the Circle" type song writing.
"bytch bad" and it's use of "bytch bad, Woman good" was just...ugh, you really start
to get the feeling that the hooks in his songs serve no purpose but to get to the next
verse or to loosely connect the concepts.

T&Y has some of the same criticisms I mentioned don't get me wrong
but it's covered by having better song concepts and great production.
Even if he goes off on a :snoop: worthy tangent like he did right in the middle
of mural.

He's not a bad rapper by any means but when I look at all the talent currently
bringing it I find Lupe's 2005/2006 novelty just isn't there. Back then being a non
gangster rapper with major label backing was damn near an anomaly but in 2015
it's :yeshrug: worthy
