Rap / street culture killed R&B. The overall image of the black man changing is what killed R&B

Black men can't be a "gentlemen" anymore.
Black men can't be "soft" and kind anymore.
Black men can't be chivalrous anymore.
Black men can't be vulnerable and express true love and admiration for women anymore.
Black men can't express wanting to be a provider & protector anymore.

These are all "simp" behaviors due to the rise of rap culture.

Rap culture eradicated the type of black man that we ourselves would want our own sisters and daughters to come across......a gentlemen who respects women.

Rap culture replaced that type of black man with the pants sagging street goon who refers to women as "b1,tches & h0es".

The black man's image being reduced to gangbangers, thugs and drugdealers is what killed R&B

On the flip side, rap culture killed the idea of the black woman and made her as being NOT WORTHY of being put on a pedestal.

Sad story all the way around.

I don't think anybody or anything killed it. Music is just going through its phases. What's negatively affecting the culture is how easy it is to get overlooked because you're not from this place or affiliated with this person and even some of your peers will ignore your posts/promos at least until your name start popping.

There's a lot of good music that's being suppressed right now, just gotta kinda search for it and when you find something that you appreciate, share it with others

Women haven't really changed all that much in the past few decades, there are just more ways for them to share their thoughts these days.

Idk man. I need to save this topic for a podcast discussion Kuz there are a lot of things to consider. Yes/no/maybe type of deal

Why everybody trying to be toxic on wax? 😒
Can I ask a serious question? Do you think being toxic on wax is new? I can think of a number of examples to the contrary if you think it is.

These conversations are always interesting.

It's probably been touched on since thread has grown already but you guys ignore good music entirely. I think you'd rather complain, personally.

Let's be clear...

Secret lovers
Creep
Bobby womack in general
You me and he
Etc

Scumbag r&b has been around, but the production was so good, it gets overlooked...

The problem is the production isn't as great and the percentage of what was a blip on the radar is now the standard...
This man understands it. Me And Mrs. Jones is an incredible track but this dude meeting up with a married woman 'making plans' even if it is somehow fun and games is asking for trouble.

Oh! It's ok because he didn't curse or say nikka and has live instruments? Got it. :dead:

Fairly new R&B love songs :blessed:

That classic don’t even have a million views. Nikkas just be talking

Maybe I’m just :flabbynsick: but that’s not R&B to me. It has that same stupid, trap beat and vocal cadences that all these other songs from the past few years have.

I agree with whoever said that a part of this issue is the lack of great producers.

I also blame the record labels.

And yeah, the consumers are to blame as well. We keep listening to this mediocre music.

These conversations are uncomfortable because nikkas start looking at their mothers/grandmothers differently....

Homie is top tier when it comes to black music history. He does interviews with producers and musicians from back in the day too

If you are meeting up with my wife making plans or sleeping with her in my bed I paid for you'll end up serenading right into the next world. But at least you serenaded, right? Dirt is dirt. Also sex on wax from females isn't new and isn't a new focus. Really can't believe you typed that......you dudes really push propaganda on here and it's such a bad look.
