I'm not sure I ever played, but it definitely existed. Think it might've been called "butts up" too. I just couldn't get down with a game where people got to throw a hard ass basketball at my ass, and if it missed it could hit my head or back. And if I won I got the "prize" of hitting another dude in the ass. Yeah, wasn't for me.

@Boesky ain't a New Yorker, so I think it wasn't just local. Only games I played growing up that seemed strictly NYC were skellzies, stoop ball, and handball. I mean, I know handball is played elsewhere, I just never saw it played in parks so frequently by so many people anywhere other than NYC. Ricans and Jews were always out at the parks battling.

I'm from Harlem. But I saw cats play that shyt in Connecticut too. In my neighborhood it was pretty much just 21 and fulls. Or late night drug dealer sponsored one-on-one games. I didn't really learN games like knockout or HORSE until I left the city for high school.
