damn thats a perfect analogy :wow:
Breh, I've spoke on Sam Cooke many times on the Coli. I'm a Sam Cooke stan.

I would HIGHLY suggest you read Peter Guralnick's book Dream Boogie, The Triumph of Sam Cooke

It will be very eye opening and heartbreaking.

It's also crazy to know how groupies were during the GOSPEL CIRCUIT in the 30s - 50s. Crazy shyt. Sam was a wild boy at times.

His love of risk and shady women was his demise. :wow:

Your man Sam knew his brother was in the hotel room w/ his wife. he calls him to come down and listen to a record real quick on some

"L.C, come down to the room real quick, breh. Tell wifey its business."

L.C goes to the room, nothing but bad naked jawns. :gladbron:

The tragedy of Sam's son Vincent...:to:

And Sam's ultimate demise. I finished that book feeling so weird... I thought I knew dude...I didn't.

yeah I watched a documentary of Sam Cooke a few weeks ago

and the gospel circuit groupie story shyt was kind of funny lol

Lou Rawls was talking about how people assumed him and Sam Cooke were saints because they did gospel music

but he said (and I'm paraphrasing) "we were as much of a dog as anyone else lol"

Also, I even wrote a piece on how Sam Cooke's music was instrumental in my journey towards falling for my wife.

Enjoy, brehs. :salute:

hey is it true that Sam Cooke was a concscious brother?

and is it also true that he told Malcolm X and Martin Luther King that he would finance their movements if they were to come together?

people believe that had something to do with his death.

what do you think of his death? was it foul play?

Honestly,

and again, I'm a BIG Sam fan, but I think he was so brilliantly lovable and knew how to make people feel like they were so close to him. He was involved and he did have a great friendship w/ Malcolm and Ali but he was dealing with such tragic things at the time that I, personally, don't feel that he was really ready to make political waves just yet.

I also don't think his death was more than a tragic culmination of a bunch of storms hitting at the same time.

The Black woman who shot him claimed she didn't know who he was... I remember reading this as being VERY suspicious. I mean, it was Sam Cooke...in LA.

The girl Sam was with, was literally a vintage era Ig model/video vixen wh's purpose was to go home with the biggest wallet that night. Sam literally first laid eyes on her while she was sitting in a booth w/ 2 men...they weren't her brothers.

He bagged her up, took her in his convertible and drove past the main hotels on the strip to go to the low key spot that became his homicide location.

We really only have her account because Sam died instantly but the girl he was with claimed Sam was coming on too hard so she waited until he went to the bathroom to steal his wallet and pants.

Sam came out and we can assume he believed he got finessed. He ran to the management desk of the motel and was furiously knocking on the door on some, "I know that bytch is in there, she stole my shyt."

He damn near kicked the door in and the clerk reached up and grabbed the shotty and the rest was history.:wow:
