different shows need different endings. i did not like the sopranos ending, but of the two shows, it was the one that dealt with the consciousness of the main character the most, so having an ending that implies it is the ending of the main character's existence at least can make some sense. you cant do that with BB, so comparing the two is kinda pointless. BB was more traditionally depicted, so it had to have a normal finale compared to sopranos
and i too was a bit underwhelmed by BB's finale, but the style of the episode is the only one i can see fitting the series. walt gets in over his head, walt outsmarts some folks, walt discovers another layer of consequences he did not predict, but gets kinda lucky anyway. the only element missing from the finale that was a constant throughout the series was walt's decisions costing everyone around him. in the finale, walt started making some things better (to the best of his abilities) instead of giving the people in his life new problems. any BB finale that doesnt stay grounded in this style would just feel like a stunt that came out of nowhere
