Respectability Politics is part of the reason why black politics in DC has been stagnant. Everybody looking for the perfect mythical negro, instead of embracing the people we have in place.
There have been plenty of dignified Black women in congress/government. I mean, virtually ALL of them or they would’ve have made it. LOL
Most of them are reminiscent of Claire Huxtable. These are also the Black women who are found in corporate spaces.
That was basically Harris (yes I know she is mixed)! Point is America isn’t receptive to that. Whoever we have that is currently making waves, regardless of race or gender, is who we need to push to the front.

It’s impossible for Ms.Crockett because she built her brand on that type of shyt ..That’s what we know her for .Having some funny viral moment clapping back at someone….but how does that prove that she supposed to be a LEADER?
