I just feel we got a pg safe Rock instead of The Rock in the promo above. Is this why Austin won't return? This era would ruin the stone cold character.

I honestly wouldn't have thought that the OP was right until I saw this. The Rock promos we got during the whole Cena feud were all lame and corny. WWE must've been making Rock hold back.

That's exactly what happened. Rock even agreed to write notes on his arm so people would think he doesn't shoot from the hip. It sucks that he had to downgrade for cena's sake. Just shows you the power of $$$.Never seen this before

He wasn't all lame and corny in his recent run, but it was still nowhere near his potential. And he still sonned cena regardless
Have you seen the Rock and Austin promo where they sung that song together? You think anyone in this generation can touch a guy like that who can improvise on the mic? Come on...Meltzer already went into detail about that arms note gimmick and all of that wack shyt. That stuff and how they tried to intentionally keep Bryan back post Hell in a Cell 2013 proved how out of touch the WWE and Vince had become. It was like flushing money down the drain.
Promo wise he hella held back, in ring wise

He wasn't held back he went out there and said what he wanted. It's just that dudes realized the "popcorn fat, fruity pebbles etc" shyt was corny.
He never looked comfortable out there. I dont know if it's because they held him back or he just didn't have it any more. Punk ate him alive on the mic though.
