My wife and I both work in the fashion industry so we get a discount. She got it for me for Christmas last year. Without the discount no way would I buy something like that.

For most people who really follow high end fashion the name 'Tom Ford' wasn't new and everyone who buys high end clothing, knew who he was before Jayz. No reason for him to 'pay' anyone.

Of course they aren't struggling for cash now but the ability to have your brand recognised across the upper end of the mass market can only be good for a brand in such a crowded luxury brand market. Investors/ shareholders don't care where the dollars come from, they want growth and for these brands it means penetration into the HENRYs" (High Earnings, Not Rich Yet) market and that includes a lot of people that listen to rap as well as emerging market consumers (Asia, Africa and South America)
