Goku was my dude but Vegeta was definitely stronger than him during the initial confrontation with 19 & 20, heart virus or no heart virus. Piccolo mentions it once or twice during the fight. It was short lived as Goku inevitably lapped him up after training in the time chamber but Vegeta reclaimed the throne briefly. He was then promptly lapped up by Goku, Gohan, and his own son.I like Vegeta, but I'll be damn if Toriyama didnt hate him. Breh didnt even know how his sagas were gonna end until he began writing them, but he knew off top that Vegeta was going to hold an L.

Vegeta is the villain.
He only acts that way because he has no wiggle room to get out of line because goku, gohan and his son will show up immestediately to beat his ass.
Vegeta hasnt been an outright "villain" since the Saiyan saga and the closest hes come since was when he let his pride take hold in the Buu saga and went Majin. Vegeta is a lot of things, but hes only "the villain" if one operates in black & white morality. He's objectively had the most character development of everyone in the entire series. He saved Gohan & Krillin countless of times. He literally killed himself attempting to save his seed & the Earth vs Majin Buu. He sacrificed himself at the altar to give Goku time to regain his strength and got a beating at the hands of Kid Buu that the masses hadn't seen since the Passion of Christ dropped. Vegeta is the textbook definition of an antihero. If your definition of villain consists of anyone whom isn't a boy scout, then yeah -- he's a monster.
Big man. Disregarding that current Vegeta could make Gohan HIS son today if he wanted to, 95% of the original Z fighters were either general scumbags like Tien, who was snapping limbs like Chong Li in the kumite, or enemies like Yamcha & Piccolo that either got spanked before joining him, or completely lapped up. Every last one of them would be forced to lean back if they ever reverted to old habits.
Piccolo.
Yamaha.
Tien.
Krillin. (Didnt fukk with Goku at all to begin with.)
Goku either put his foot on their throats or eclipsed them while they were at odds, so this line of reasoning doesn't really hold up. This is disregarding Android 18 (and recently 17.) The common theme being that Goku refrains from killing when he can and his conviction that there's decency in everyone. The OG squad was literally made up of guys seeking "second chances." Just say you dont care for the character. I think he's the most layered & interesting personality in the entire series, but I still don't care for him because he's historically been a narcissistic buffoon. That doesn't mean dude is a moustache twirling bad guy.![]()
Stop.
Only reason duke in any type of order.
Simply is becsuse goku is there and he is in COMPLETE fukk'N CHECK.
Not to mention he would get bodied by any of the rogues gallery. So he has to be play nice. While he secretly looks for mass unfound advantages to deal with goku and the rogues gallery.
Duke is a villain.
It is just goku is just a wonder ously nicely written characterr is the only reason.
Vegeta not giving his scooby doo trope after attempt 101010101 then getting whooped't.
