Did we ever get to the bottom of Ross' sudden improvement post-2008?

This has to got to be one of rap's biggest mysteries. :mindblown:

Dude went from Port of Miami (which I liked btw) to Mafia Music in the space of three years.

No one suddenly improves that good that quickly. :aicmon:

Is the consensus that he was always a great writer and he just dumbed it down because of the climate in rap circa 2006?

I've always been more impressed with Wayne's improvement than Ross's. Wayne literally went from being the weak link in the Hot Boyz to killing the mixtape scene in the same decade :banderas:

Wayne was far from a weak link. Turk was the weak link. wayne had classic verses on Hot Boys "Get It How Live" album and BG's "It's All On U" album.

I say this all the time. That run up to Deeper Than Rap was the largest improvement of ANY rap artist I've ever witnessed.

Its like dude either got better, or stopped dumbing shyt down.

If it wasn't for that 50 beef, he'd be a MASSIVE artist.

:stopitslime: 50 did not stop that nikka from nothing, he'd be in the same place he is now w/o it. I have heard a few ppl IRL mention they dont fukk with him b/c he was a "cop", but those were airhead bytches that wouldnt have fukked with him regardless
