To be fair, many (if not most) men haven't seen women as people since society was built. They used to be property that came with a cow and a farm lol. In this country, they were housewives who were restricted from multiple basic freedoms for quite some time. Let's not pretend men suddenly became objects and started treating women that way - it was the other way around.
The majority of "men should pay for everything" discourse online is coming from broke chicks who have nothing going on in life. This discourse wouldn't even matter if men had higher standards but...we don't. Successful men tend to date and marry successful women, according to Census data and studies.
