Did y'all get whoppings as a child?

I can only recall getting hit with an object about 3 times. The rest were hands.

I can't imagine purposely inflicting physical pain on my child, but I get really annoyed when I see kids acting up in public.

Yes I have. I got the belt, stick, pot spoon, frying pan, hanger, fists and a knife thrown at me one time.

I'm not having kids and if I did I probably would whoop em but not the the extent I did. Sometimes all a kid needs is being yelled at.

Do you think a child can be dicsplined properly without it?

Grandma, mother and aunt(s) used to make me go out to the bush outside our house, get a switch, and make me come back and whip my ass with it......

I can in all seriousness say that every whipping I got, I deserved. I mean, what else are you supposed to do when an 8-year-old sets fire to an overgrown lot and pushes his little brother down a flight of stairs on a Big Wheel??? Once, when I was getting my hair cut at the age of 10, I commented that I'd like to get my hair cut in a different style. Mom said, 'When you pay for your own haircuts, you can get any style you want.' Me, being a smart-ass, came back with, 'Can I borrow $10?' Next thing I know, I'm on the floor of the barber shop and the barber is laughing his ass off.

Would I whip my kids? It'd take an EXTREME circumstance for me to even consider it, but in the back of my mind is 'If I don't do it, the streets will.....and they don't care about him/her like I do.'

Can a child be disciplined without it? Absolutely, but each child isn't the same and won't respond equally to the same disciplinary measures.

Yes and they didn't work. I needed them to exist. Food, water, shelter, clothing, the fear was already there and honestly had no idea what I was being disciplined for. Felt like they were just taking that anger out on me.

I didnt get any whoopings as a child. I learned quickly and very early on how to move in silence
I dont have any children. But if I did I would try alternative forms of discipline before actually hitting them. I remember having to touch my toes in the corner or stand in the corner with my nose to the wall as forms of punishment

If they continued to act up after that, then yes, I would "pop" or "spank" them.

Yeah I got beat and so did all my brother and sisters. We never learned our lessons. My moms said years ago, that she s thought we were retarded or some shyt cuz we just kept doin the same shyt over and over again. She said the day she had to beat one of us on our birthday was the worst. We were just some bad lil b*stards . I told her that we deserved way more beating than she dish out but she said she knew that but was too exhausted .


I don't whup my kid. Don't really have too in these times because they have so much more than we did. We had to go outside in 90's to have fun, that's where most the bullshyt we got shillings for originated. These kids now are much more stationary and they have more technology and less stricture. My kid act out and all I have to do is threaten him with no iPad or cell phone and he watering at the eyes like I'm flexing the belt. Different times.
