Another half that has never been told. My wife's paternal side of her family had the patriarch flee Mississippi and change the family name because he slew a cac that had tried to violate his wife. They ended up in Chicago.

That happened a lot Black Men defending theirselves and their families and either dipping rather being tried by a racist kangaroo court or to prevent collective retribution

My oldest sister has a bunch of family albums. I found these very interesting. I saw my mom's writing describing her great uncles. She was born in DC before moving to farm in Northern Virginia.
