They're acting like she's intentionally using a slur against them, even though there's a bigger chance she had no idea of it's origins (and probably didn't even write it). Spas/Spastic seem to be used there a lot more than here as a derogatory term.

I can understand where she's coming from as she's got an audience in the UK that she needs to respect. Good business on her part. However, spaz as used here in the states by Black Americans is completely different from calling somone a spas in the UK. One is a verb, while the other is an adjective and noun.
