Personally I owed this year not a huge amount, around $1000, but still, miss the days when I used to get a refund

As far as state taxes I broke about even. Think I owed like $25.

How you saying you owe "Not a huge amount" but owe $1000? That's a lot. The goal at tax season is to owe nothing or if you want to do 0% interest government savings plan get a small refund...
