Their bro. And it simply depends on how complex they are but my parents did not do their own for many years. If you are W-2 with not many assets Turbo Tax or the like are fine. 1099 and/or multiple streams of income you better pay someone unless you really know what you are doing.

Naw, I am pretty sure a lot of us do them or have them done. Though it would seem like a lot are not doing it, because they make sure to blast every Black entertainer who had to pay back taxes and penalties. Even in those cases, it may not have been that they did not do them but that they were not done correctly.

my dad owned his own truck and trucking company (he was the only driver most of the time, but there were times when he had a second truck and second driver) so he had to get his done by a tax preparer because shyt was complex.

but after he stopped doing that... yeah... they just used turbo tax or whatever.

I have no clue. I just know I was not taught and learned it on my own back in the days before tax programs were widely available (1040ez form to start). I have taught my daughter, and she does her own taxes now.

i feel you, I just thinking out loud. If low income people aren't taught how to do taxes then the gov will take there money out of there income and just not give a return which is a massive issue if you think about.

my moms went and got them done. my one homies moms did her own taxes, and other peoples. thats how i learned you could do you own shyt, or not go to H&R block and get raped.
