Did your parents ever tell you about their college experience?

For those of you who had parents who went to college in the 70s and 80s, did they ever tell you about their experience? Both of mine went to different PWIs on the East Coast and lived on campus but they never really went into detail about what it was like. Just vague high level stuff like “we used to go out after mid terms” or “one of my classmates was from Saudi Arabia.”

My parents met at PSU. They always told me about students dressing up as KKK for Halloween and shyt like that

That's wild. Yeah I know someone who worked at a college in the 70s and 80s and she said several cac parents requested that their kids not be roommates with Black students.

No they didn't
A lot of ppl don’t keep it real about the experience lol

I had to tell the kids in my family what campus life was like so they weren’t completely blindsided when they hit campus :mjlol:
Their parents had wild stories themselves but want to act like they were angels from 18-22. FOH lmao They were doing the most when I was a damn kid :deadrose:

My dad told me about having to retake classes, specifically calculus. That concerned me as a kid because my dad was one of the smartest people I knew at the time (academically), so I figured if he was fukking up I'm gonna be doomed lol. It's funny because he still has a lot of his college books and I was at my parents house a few months ago and stumbled across his calculus book. I barely passed calculus on my first try, so I always remind him of that lol.

My mom didn't go to college until I was like 12 or 13. She went to a community college and I remember helping her study. She'd make flash cards and I'd give her tests. It's funny because one of her classmates was the older brother of one of my basketball teammates. So that gave me the concept that a guy in his early 20s could be in the same class as my mom, who was in her 40s at the time. Basically it's never too late to go back to school.

Lol facts. I was somewhat surprised to see the recent reports showing that younger generations including mine are having sex at much lower rates than prior generations. Also I’ve been surprised to hear that even some men who were wilding out back in the day and have high body counts but avoided baby mamas still keep it from their sons because they don’t want them follow the same path.

My parents weren’t that open about their past beyond their childhood years.

We losing stories. My dad literally just mentioned something interesting in his family childhood that I never knew about till last week. But he did say that my uncle wasn't too keen on people knowing about it so it is what it is.

My mum told me we getting robbed with student loans and that tuition was £1,000 per term in the 90's

When I went in 2008 it was £3,000 per term
