Gloria seems like she came from a troubled background and her mom was happy that Aaron took her in. Nia Long told the story of her mom giving her blessing to date a grown man. A lot of these girls are not protected at home and predatory men can sniff that out. I knew some girls that snuck around with older dudes. But in many cases the parents could care less.

“A lot of these girls” are gonna do WTF they wanna do regardless of the level of “protection“ or “care” from their parents. Everybody and their mama (pun absolutely intended) knows this in their mind and heart, but won’t say it out loud for some reason. Every teenage girl thinks their parent(s) are too old and/or strict on this matter.

They also know that it’s wrong to lie, but they will do so about their age/status/circumstances to do “grown” activities.

So your Math ain’t mathing. You left out a prime factor. This is a three-headed problem: The parents / These men / the natural proclivities of these girls.

Gloria said that young women were looking up to these older men. That’s the problem. A young teen should never be looking up to men besides their fathers, uncles, and grandfathers. A lot of kids are raising themselves.

Young Women naturally look up to older men. And past Puberty that adds a sexual component at times. Especially if the man seems to be “better” than her.

I don’t think I’m breaking any news here…but I say it to say it is unrealistic (and perhaps foolish) to think young teens (female OR male) don’t look up to other people besides their parents.
