Sean 'Puff Daddy' Combs donates $1 million to his old university

Sean 'Diddy' Combs has donated $1 million to his old university in Washington, DC.

The 'I'll Be Missing You' hitmaker studied business at Howard University and dropped out after two years in order to focus on his music but he's never forgotten his routes and has handed the life-changing lump sum to the schools' President Dr Wayne Frederick on Thursday.

Speaking at his show as part of his Bad Boy Reunion tour at the Verizon Center in DC, the performer, who also goes by Puff Daddy, said: 'One of the biggest blessings is getting the chance to one day be able to give back. And to support the people that supported you. If I didn't get some help, I wouldn't be where I'm at today.'

This comes after the singer - who dates singer Cassie Ventura - was named by Forbes as one of the highest-earning hip-hop stars.

Diddy, for the second year in a row, claimed the highest spot on the cash countdown, with $62 million thanks to his Ciroc vodka enterprise and a host of other businesses he has ownership in.

The music mogul, who's been atop the list four of the past five years, has even worked a reference about it on one of his tracks, rapping in 2014's Big Homie, 'The only one that’s topping Forbes, I’m gettin’ lonely.
