There is no such thing as squeezed all the money out of publishing. If you've made timeless music, people will listen and your publishing will continue to make money. He could've easily bundled all these artists publishing together and sold it for 7 figures. Easily. Who knows why he gave them back, but what people are really doing is belittling these artists music by telling them that they no longer have value.

They dont....and a couple artists have already came out and said they are worth hundreds of dollars a year....and they have to sign a NDA as part of the transfer.

Aubrey from that girl group said...she can make.more money from hulu doing a documentary on her time at bad boy than the publishing she was recently told she could get

People don’t even appreciate older music like we did when I was younger though. One of them artists would have to die to get the money they deserve off of it sadly. They’re going to have to work them records extra hard to get any real money now.

I don't know her business and neither do you

The correlation is she can make more discussing her past music situation than she can with the publishing that's being offered

Ice ice baby is timeless
Ruff ryders Anthem is timeless
That cac Rick Astley singing never gonna give you up is timeless

If any of those bad boy artists had those caliber of records, Mr combs would have still had their publishing in his possession...

No one is disrespecting the music, the fact is Puff milked the primes of their publishing

Puff could've easily bundled their publishing together for millions of dollars. So they're worth millions to him.
Again, who knows why he gave them back but he did.

Yup.

This was never an act of generosity from a notorious shark like Puff. Why make them all sign NDAs specifically outlining that they can’t talk shït about him, Sony, Bad Boy or the publishing arms associated with these songs.

If this was set in motion 2 years ago, why does it magically come out not right when it’s time for his album rollout.

Outside of a few well known songs from BIG and maybe Mase — and maaaaaaybe Faith, the publishing isn’t generating shít in the streaming era. No one is looking for Danita Kane songs when Pùssycat Dolls got better stuff. And when it comes to TV/movie licensing, these studios want well known BIG songs — and nothing is being filmed anyway so that’s a revenue stream that’s not viable

If Puff was being so generous he would’ve threw everyone a few bucks — but that would’ve required him to dig for money that he’s not comfortable giving up.

That Puffy hate is deep.
When have we ever heard of a record executive giving all their artists back their publishing? Is there an example of this anywhere?
Styles P said the Lox got their publishing back in 2021 so it does seem like this was set in motion two years ago.
And again, if Puff bundled all these artist publishing together he would've easily gotten a seven figure amount (I think the rumor was 9 figures but I doubt that but who knows).

Any “hate” headed his way is not unjustified.

He didn’t have to give anyone anything since those artists signed whatever deals they signed. And for a decent amount of them, their music is basically worthless now since they can’t earn much off of songs in the streaming era + a radio programming environment that constantly pushes bullshít. So it’s on these artists to find a way to get tour $

With that said, Puff is the same snake that had dealings with Keefe or else he and the whole Bad Boy crew would’ve gotten eaten alive out West.

And this is the same Puff who pushed poison to the community for years and then wants to preach empowerment when the booze brands threw him to the curb.

This is the same Puff who jerked Ryan Leslie when it made more business sense to have him lead the next wave of Bad Boy’s sound instead of taking his bitçh.

I respect his accomplishments but Puff talks out of both sides of his mouth. He better be lucky he was a lap dog for Clive instead of dealing with a real one like Diçk Griffey who would’ve punched his skeleton out of his body.
