I could tell u right now...thats not ALL he did...he didnt chop it up like other beats but he did more than what u sayin...
yea i know thats not ALL he did breh. but the main melody that was sampled is the best part of the song and that was straight copied and pasted. he didnt change that at all. the drums he added and that guitar riff enhanced the song as a whole but the heart of the beat was a str8 up copied loop

Im telling u u can give that sample to someone else and it wouldn't sound like what Tim did...nikka added 2 basslines...a plethora of other sounds...his drums was perfect...and to get it to sound like that it took great beat mixing...filtering and compression..etc...the initial melody was hot enough for him not to chop it up like crazy....

thats kinda my point breh. the main melody that was sampled is the best part of the song atleast to me. even when i listened to the original i was like this is hot and thats without all the extra drums and basslines. and as far as the filtering and compressioning i guess Tim's studio engineer gets just as miuch credit as Tim does

How u know he had a studio engineer to mix his beats?...most nikkas I know who make beats mix they own shyt...they dont like other people messin wit they beats like that anyway but who knows...and either way u gotta mix it before it gets mastered...and it dont get mastered till the vocals hit it...

maybe im wrong but i assumed it was common knowledge that most BIG TIME producers has an engineer on deck. Kanye,Tim,Neptunes,Dre,etc if u watch most studio sessions your gonna see the long-haired hippy looking white guy in the room. more often than not thats the engineer but like i said maybe im wrong :manny:

Look at is like this. If I call a bass player into the studio and tell him to record a some licks. Then I analyze what he played then select my favorite part. Then I get a drummer in and tell him play something that matches this bassline. Then I get a guitarist, a keyboard player and etc. and tell them to perform something to the track. Do you have a issue with the fact that all of the melodies are not mine? If I told you that this has been the music industry since day one would that shock you?

Most studios do have engineers...and all those producers have studios wbere artists come thru and make songs with them...a lot of those engineers are for after someone records on the track...like said the producer himself wants his beat to sound a certain way and a lot of the time they dont wanna put that in someone elses hands...unless its some kind production team..then kts different...or a nikka like Dre who really just oversees and engineers and dresses up already made beats...

You just played yourself right there. You're telling me a dude that can buy a software and just trigger random note is talented? You respect that my 10 year old nephew can download a random vst and make a souljaboy type beat? :what:

If you take away that dudes 808 drumkit (not even a real 808, a drumkit sample) and VST's and put him in the room with a grand piano, drum set and bass guitar he would be lost. I guarantee Dilla, Preemo and P. Rock would smoke him. You really think these cats cant slam out a tune on real instruments?

I'm not talking about triggering a loop by pressing one key. I'm talking about sitting there and actual putting together the notes and chords etc. What is the difference between making a hot beat with a virtual piano in logic and sitting down at a piano and playing the same thing? I don't demand that beat makers know how to play drums, bass, saxophone, xylophone, sousaphone etc. If they can sit down at the keys and make it happen that's good enough for me. It's still original product vs. a recording of someone else's product.

Right... they're missing the point that the "cool drums" and baby noises are fine and all but they're incidental to what carries the song... which is the lifted melody. Without the lifted melody it's just "cool drums bro."
