John McTiernan, low key one of the greatest to ever do it.

Directed Predator, Die Hard 1 and 3. In the case of 3, that was originally a totally different story that McTiernan blended into the Die Hard universe. As has been said, they don't make action flicks like this anymore. Sadly.
