Diego Sanchez inks new eight-fight UFC contract, wants winning Joe Lauzon at UFC 171

Diego Sanchez has signed a new eight-fight deal with Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). And if Joe Lauzon defeats Mac Danzig this weekend at UFC on FOX 9, he wants to give him a run at UFC 171 in Dallas, Texas, next year.

Not only did Diego Sanchez earn "Fight of the Night" honors for his role in the Lightweight classic between himself and Gilbert Melendez at UFC 166, but according to a recent report from "UFC Tonight" earlier this evening, "The Dream" now has a new Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) eight-fight contract.

Sanchez also dished to the FOX Sports 1 program who he would like fight next and where he would like for the Lightweight bout to take place.

Following a recent social media war with Conor McGregor that made mixed martial arts (MMA) headlines, and culminated with a "Notorious" guarantee that the match would go down at 170 pounds once he recovers from knee surgery, many assumed Sanchez would continue to fan the flames.

Instead the 31-year-old hopes to fight a man in action this weekend at UFC on Fox 9, Joe Lauzon. That is, of course, if "J-Lau" is successful against Mac Danzig. And if that turns out to be the case in Sacramento, Calif., Sanchez hopes the two collide inside the Octagon at UFC 171, which goes down at American Airlines Arena in Dallas, Texas, on March 15, 2014.

That's a potential firefight if it does indeed come to fruition; however, one has to wonder from a health perspective if Sanchez has one of those left in him, much less eight, after the damage he has sustained in recent matches.

^ is it that hard to see it clearly a monetary issue :why: (with bj) as for franklin what value does he have in todays ufc? it would be disrespectful to put him anywhere lower than the 3rd match of a main card but in actuality he should be the last fight on a FS1 pre-lim..Sanchez is clearly not making that much and being a tuf 1 alum goes a long way
