what's the story behind this beef

Diggy took offense to a song named "Purple Rain" that J Cole made a while back and dissed J Cole for talking about smashing his sister in the song despite the fact J Cole never explicitly mentioned his sister in the song . And apparently J. Cole did smash since he struck a nerve with Diggy.

Diggy got at him something serious, but a combination of people refusing to take Diggy serious because he's 17 years old(even though he's good) and J.Cole fans being in denial/stubborn means this will inevitably be slept on and/or hated on.

Actually you know what? This is probably the perfect person to go at Cole.

Cole's bars are filled with struggle and Diggy is obviously the complete opposite so Cole basically gave Diggy all the ammunition he needed, through his body of work.

not necessarily. that's still his sister. clearly they try to carry themselves a certain way. i don't thnk it warrants a full response from cole though. his disses were still better than anything i heard in this entire song. id only give him a few more bars.
