Well, I haven't drawn on paper in a long time. Like, 2013. I was forced to for my drawing class last year, but those are just portraits/basic stuff like this:

Thank you guys. My mom reminded me of that site today but I brushed it off thinking I could only charge 5$. Needless to say, there's already a bunch of artists offering stylized portraits too. I knew my idea wasn't original, but now I'm self conscious and unmotivated.

Don't mind me posting here 5 in the AM. I don't sleep at night and I want this thread to sink to the bottom before noon.

I've been thinking lately about putting my digital art skills to practice by making fun portraits of people. There's a strong hype for the new tumblr ghetto fab aesthetic, along many other styles such as 'grime', vaporwave, kawaii, etc.

Say my idea was redrawing regular selfies in a particular style/manner that the client wanted me to. Say I charged 25$ for it. I'd be making around 6.25$ an hour because I'm really slow, but hey, at least it's better than not getting paid at all.

What means should I use to advertise myself besides Instagram and Tumblr?

Mind you this is a side hustle, so even if I get 1 person a year, that's still money I guess.

The only reason I copy from photographs is to study color, lighting, proportions, etc. But I realized I can make money out of doing portraits for people. Believe it or not, violence is glamorized through art, music, movies, etc. I drew her with a gun for a project at school related to a novel I'm writing about teen violence, so she represents one of my characters. And yeah there are a lot of innovative Japanese artists indeed

Ok love you think you are going to make a blimp of difference in the art world imitating what others have done. there is violence in hiphop music and romanticized violence in movies but art is not violent its the opposite. In 2016 white people are not paying to put violent black images up and any decent black man/woman is not going to be placing violent images in their home.

finally you say you an artist you do have a couple decent images but my point is as an artist a creative human being you should even be able to draw inspiration from nature. I am saying there are a thousand and thousand of black movies about violence why would you think someone is going to be interested in another writing about teen violence and written by a female too.

you see powerful black images dont need violence people white/black are sick of guns and slave chains and all these nother negative violent images. you are female for gods sake you should be leaning to beauty. if you writing a novel why would you think thats even an approipriate story thats going to take you far. Have you ever heard of charles dikkens, harper lee and etc. beautiful imaginations great characters great scenery wonderful stories.

Im not shytting im actually trying to help im an artist myself i even make clothes and i see it myself even in the fashion world. these black designers want to run so far away from black/hiphop feeling that they do some feminine sci-fi fetish designs its absolutely appaling because no on respects it, its not true.

i would post some great illustrive paintings and creations but you might not even want it so anyway good luck.
