I can't wait for Twitter and Meta to go fully bankrupt

They trying to market the meta quest system as more than just a gaming system. Popularize its use as a venue for concerts, festivals and other type of events too.can someone explain what FB is tryin to do here? why have they spent billions on this?

For real. This is how cults of personality form. It’s also fukking disgusting that even the notion of simple being is commodified these days.some cyberpunk johnny silverhand type stuff.
i haven't seen anything yet that says "worldwide adoption" .. they are literally spending billions..They trying to market the meta quest system as more than just a gaming system. Popularize its use as a venue for concerts, festivals and other type of events too.
Myself personally would love to see them partner with the NBA and NFL so i can watch games courtside from my living room.
Just a natural progression from one format to another more advanced one. Nothing different than a person leaving behind a book detailing his thoughts or beliefs. should have expected this to happen one day given the knowledge and know how. As with all our other tech advances in information tech, the good will always greatly outweigh the bad but people will fear monger it until it becomes mainstream and accepted, then they will complain about who to credit for being on the wave first. For real. Sure, this could have some utility, but imagine having to pay server costs or a subscription to maintain purely digital records or information. It’s already happening, but I don’t know if we can really embrace the implications of all this data and what it can do to people.
I’m not against it per se, but I don’t think people have the maturity to use stuff like this responsibly. Just look how quickly information is transferred. Trumps dumb ass tweets held an inordinate power over the world, and these are official declarations from a sitting president! One misinterpretation, or one leaked video or photo, or even something we perceive to be true, could cause things to easily escalate.Just a natural progression from one format to another more advanced one. This is the end result of digital worlds. Once meta-verse and its clones become mainstream, i doubt anybody will ever truly be dead. All that data will be saved and simulated for eternity.
Its not even dystopian either. It could be a good thing. For example, imagine a grandfather leaving messages, stories, and physical mannersims for his newborn grandchildren right before he dies. Something like this is possible when all that data is stored.
Imagine a young steven hawkings born in 2022, whose whole life has been lived and documented inside a VR world. Even after he died, his methods could be simulated to create more scientific breakthroughs after his death.
The future is exciting.

I was salty about that, i couldn't afford one when they were introduced and by the time i got money shyt had fallen off.facebook is so thirsty for this to actually be a thing, and I can't help but to know this shyt is gonna flop like the 3D television![]()
